SIV Course, Utah Lake

Dates: Sept. 15-17

Three day boat towing maneuvers course over Utah Lake. This course is for pilots of all levels whether it’s your first SIV Course or you’re working on helis. Course includes:

  • Ground School
  • Gear Check
  • Six tows with radio coaching
  • In depth video review of runs

*There is opportunity for additional tows at the end of the course, weather dependent

4 Days of SIV training on Utah Lake.

Day 1 – Arrival day for those traveling, we’ll do gear check and ground school in the afternoon.

Days 2 & 3 – These are the main tow days, shooting for 3 tows per day. Tows are typically 3000 to 4000 ft. Each tow includes an in depth briefing of maneuvers before your tow, radio coaching in-flight, and in depth video debrief after. We recommend bringing a 360 cam like the Gopro Max or an Insta 360 for video review. If you don’t have a camera to use or borrow we can rent cameras.

Day 4 – This is our weather/bonus tow day. If we’ve had good weather through the course and you’ve completed your six tows, you’ll have the option to do additional tows at a discounted rate. If you haven’t had all your tows due to weather or other issues we can make them up this day.

Required Gear:

  • Paraglider and Harness
  • Reserve Parachute – we highly recommend 2 reserves
  • Helmet
  • PFD (life jacket) – We recommend an auto inflating PDF
  • Radio – Baofeng has $25 dollar radios on amazon
  • Tow Bridals

Recommended Gear:

  • Hat & Sunglasses
  • Long sleeve sun shirt
  • Sunscreen
  • Light Gloves
  • Low B Wing – this is skill dependent but unless you’re comfortable stalling over the ground, a low b wing is probably going to allow you the most progression.
  • Open Harness – Learning maneuvers is a lot better in an open harness than a pod.

If you have any other questions on what to bring just ask.
